Dark, steady gaze took in the shadowed landscape, the equine it belonged to smirking. Yes, this would do much better than that horrible 'sacred' place she came from. Born light, raised light, she was no light. Throughout her foalhood she'd been treated differently, because she was different. Her soul had rebelled against those around her, and she had known almost instantly she was destined to leave. She'd longed for the moment, yearned for her freedom, and here it was. Her dark grin spread as she stepped forward into the land of the Evil, her steps hard and sure.

Her nostrils flared, and she recognized this to be the claiming ground. Well, she wasn't exactly one to allow herself to be 'claimed', per se, but it never seemed to be a true 'claim' anyway. If it helped the stags' pride to call it such, she would go along with it, she supposed. Of course, that was provided they didn't light her ever shrinking fuse. She was confrontational by nature, and it had been the first sign of her 'differentness'. The second had been her complete disregard for the wellbeing, physical, emotional, mental, or otherwise, of any but herself. Still, she knew if she was going to avoid rotting in this godforsaken hell hole of a claiming ground, she would have to put aside her most adamant quirks for the day, until she found a 'home'.

Home. Such a light term. As she thought this, the deathly still air closed around her. Her jet black tassels hung motionless, clinging to the sweat on her strong frame. The appaloosa coat was patterned in the usual way, though the coloring was a bit unusual. The white blanket, a strange grayish white just this side of impossible, spread all the way along her back to just behind her withers, sprinkled thickly with the dark bay base coat that covered the rest of her body. No other whitish patches ruined the solidity of the darkness.

Freezing in midstep, deciding this was as good a place as any, she let out a harsh call, daring any nearby brutes to try their luck with her. Her tail lashed violently against her flank as she whinnied, stinging slightly, but she didn't mind. Pain was something to be endured, even embraced. It let you know you hadn't completely fallen over the edge.

-:- Sangre-Corazo -:-

~:~

-:- When all that makes up of me runs through your vessel, heart, mind and soul, it is my will to pump your blood out through your pulsating heart that beats for me. I have become your blood... your life... your soul. -:-

~:~

-:- Dark. That's all that was noticeable... to him at least. Everything... dark, black. He grunted faintly and sustained at a shuffle over the sinister land, not having an inkling on where his next foot would fall. -:-

~:~

-:- Just over the serrated hills there was evidence of a red moon rising which would soon cover this hell in some luminosity... though who said Sang didn't like the dark? Overhead innumerable stars were starting to appear past the yellowish haze covering the terrain. They gave off just enough light for him to see certain shapes... which was slightly accommodating in a half blind horse's case. Sang continued his prowl across the courtship grounds and, while doing so, the moon had risen higher in the night giving off more radiance and turning to a pale yellow. The unbreakable light illuminated over his blue silver back and left a ghostly sheen on his pelt. -:-

~:~

-:- The blue silver stallion still had blood clinging to his neck where he was mauled by a mountain lion only hours before but it did not seem to hinder him in any way. Up ahead he saw something that looked much like a small white smear. Upon closer examination he discovered it to be another equine. A mare he anticipated. He picked up an almost silent trot and grew closer to the femme. If she would happen to turn she would behold something that much resembled a glowing phantom, though looks can be deceiving. He slowed to a steady walk as he was right behind her and then stopped, waiting for her to notice his manifestation into her life. -:-

Turn she did, having felt that odd creeping feeling you get when it seems as though someone is watching you. Her gaze fell upon the phantom form, tainted by what was apparently his own blood, and though she didn't start, there was obvious surprise in her eyes. She must have let her mind wander a moment, long enough for one to sneak up on her. Whirling about to face him, her eyes hardened into that unreadable shell she'd perfected in her youth. The pale grayish white of her blanket pattern was turned away from him now, and all that could possibly be visible at such an angle was her dark bay base color. The color was so deep it nearly appeared black, especially in the current darkness. A rare color indeed for her breed, but just this side of impossible.

Ah, so I don't have long to wait after all. But is this one worth it? Her thoughts snaked through her mind as she studied him, though they remained completely invisible to her current companion. He certainly didn't seem like much to make note of. Indeed, though, looks certainly can be decieving. All she could do was believe that in this, it was so. She didn't particularly revel in the fact that a weak stag might be the one to take her into his land. "Greetings, Brute. What does one like yourself do in a place like this, near one such as me?" Arrogant, yes, but she always was one to think highly of herself, and believe all others to be 'lowly maggots'.

-:- Sangre-Corazo -:-

~:~

-:- I won’t cry, when yesterday fails to flee the torment These minds have wrought. When the moments that we bought cease to fulfill their impermanent obligations. Though I will never have tears As a simpering lullaby; And I won't wish on burning, As it ages itself away. How cold your eyes, When they withered into mine. The warmth bled away as smoke into the sea, When by chance you’re wandering glance, Hit upon the unveiled me. I am only the stark remainder; the tendrils which apparently assumed a personal expression. I am the unashamed confession, Left behind when the brazen wind's possession takes the instance away. I won’t cry, When yesterday fails, and today is consumed by fury. As disillusion reaches its eventual conclusion, You fight against existence without the safety of confusion. But you control nothing which was scattered, And left to seed. Yesterday is waiting - For your sake, embrace what you fear in me. -:-

~:~

-:- The hoary blue stallion acknowledged the wenches twist with a devious but seductive grin. He held it close for awhile before reducing it down and retaining the usual snide expression. He took a number of paces forward until he was only inches away from her own visage and took note of her bantering lyrics. Mismatched hues intermitted maliciously as he thought up a riddling response. Sure… he ‘could’ be direct, but where’s the fun in that? As he spoke his simple words which slid out of his maw they gave the impression that they too literally came out of nowhere. ‘ I am me, doing nothing more nothing less.’ He taunted her with his answer, neither answering her question nor refusing it. Another taunt came to mind and he spoke it openly without care. ‘What you see is what you get. But that doesn't mean you see it all... this I must confess.’ the words and syllables came out uncomplicated for him, though there was unidentified significance behind what he had just spoken. Maybe she would be a fool and try to respond… or maybe she would inquire about who he was. After all, there was no answer to his words except that of another question. -:-

Her eyes hardened into one of those 'if looks could kill' glares, but she remained silent a moment. His closeness made her blood boil, and anger climbed even farther out of those already smoldering eyes, but her next words were relatively calm. "If you don't know yourself enough to answer so simple a question, perhaps you are not worth my time. Come back if you feel you can stand up to the challenge." With that, she turned abruptly, though she gave not an inch to the minute gap that had remained between them due to the stag's attempt, successful attempt, to goad her. As she spun, her tail whipped out to either snap against his face or fly dangerously close, depending on whether or not he chose to dodge the 'accidental' attack.

Almost as soon as her mane had settled back against her neck, she realized perhaps it had been the wrong choice to turn her rump to him, but it was to late now. The muscles in her hindquarters bunched as she readied herself to let fly a kick, should he attempt anything she wasn't willing to allow. No matter what sort of stag took her, she would certainly not sit and rot in his terra as a brood mare, only good for viable foals. Despite the tension of the potential strike, her entire frame seemed relaxed, almost as though she had forgotten he was even there, until once more her harsh voice floated in his general direction. "I see what I choose, and get what I want. It is you who cannot see it all."

-:- Sangre-Corazo -:-

~:~

-:- Isn’t the new sound,
Just like the old sound?
Look at the noose now,
Over this burning ground… -:-

~:~

-:- Taunting mismatched hues watched her without an expression except that of what cannot be spoken in words. Pleased that she backed down from his closeness he preceded to say nothing although his utterances we miss-taken. The mistake would be easy enough to sooth over later. The mottled wench then turned away from him flaunting her rear. Lucky for her he wasn’t that class of stallion. Without a word he tucked his maw to his chest, flagged his ashen banner, and proceeded with a floating trot around her so he was before her once again, however this time not nearly as close. It was in his nature to taunt with words, it was by the way something he had learned from his dame Nightseer, so he answered her very first question, again, but probably not in anyway she would understand... Typical. -:-

~:~

-:- ’ I’m remaining, yet still uninvited…’ He watched her with unblinking eyes… one eye, painted mahogany seems to always ask permission, and the other, decorated azure never plays by the rules. His facial display played out great contrast against itself and gave him a most peculiar expression, one that is most described as ’It’ll get better later on.‘ only revealing the expression for a moment he tossed his hoary skull and hid his spheres beneath a trellis of ashy forelock. He knew well he was playing her hard but he needed a wench with not just physical strength but mental strength as well to be a worthy mate. -:-

Her well hidden tension dissipated as he moved around again, and her auds flicked forward, then back, as she watched him. After only a moment, her eyes rolled back and she snorted, though she turned her mind on and began to think. Well, if he wants to play a game, I suppose I have nothing better to do. I might as well play along. She wasn't exactly the smartest fae in the world, but when she tried she could do okay for herself. That is, when she was willing to allow herself to be tested. So why did she stick around rather than trotting off in disgust to wait for another? Honestly, she was mildly amused. She wouldn't admit that even to herself, however, and so she almost did saunter away.

But that hard gaze returned to his form, and she tossed her mane and spoke. "If it's an invitation you seek, you need to look harder, or offer one of your own. I don't deal with the nameless." She was almost surprised that he hadn't taken advantage of her turning on him, but she was glad he hadn't. In fact, he'd earned brownie points from it, even though she'd expect almost any male to jump her when presented with the right opportunity. It had been her experience that those with darker souls had much less regard for another's wants, for it was how she herself was, most of the time.

(Ack. I can't seem to get a very good post out of her....)

-:- Sangre-Corazo -:-

~:~

-:- A brilliant thing it is to feel, but I’m a heartless stone,
blessed with a demanding mind - dressed behind your smile. -:-

~:~

-:- He was undoubtedly pleased that the wench had finally picked up on his little game. A delicate, almost undetected, grin played across his masked features and he spoke. ‘So you wish to know who I am…’ he paused and lowered his tricky grin before continuing playfully, ‘But what 'am' I? A Delusion? A nightmare? An obsessive mind?’ he paused again, gathering more words in his mind to speak out. ‘A morbid romantic?’ The grin returned to his façade in a sensual way affirming this idea might be possibly true. ‘Someone struggling between fantasy and reality? Or am I one who has dreamed of love, blood, and Death?’ he looked her carefully over before speaking again and finally added, ‘Now tell me... Who am I really?’ -:-

~:~

-:- The silver stallion chuckled briefly and almost silently after he spoke his words, rather pleased with how they came out. After a moment however he pondered whether he should really speak his name… he would have to eventually. Giving in he lifted his head and puffed out his chest and taunted, ’one thing I am certain of however, nameless wench, is my identity… Sangre-Corazo’ a hard glint shown in his blue eye as if the name held some secret meaning though it would never be told… not now anyway. -:-

The mare again whipped her own flank with her tail, though this time not so much in agitation, or even boredom, but in a slight triumph. She let that emotion shine through her eyes, but only enough to be guessed at for meaning, not affirmed. Her voice, when it issued forth, held a not of sarcasm and false elation. "At last, an answer! But some of the amusement was real, and it too was in her eyes, gleaming almost teasingly as she stared. "As for what you are, that, too, only you can answer. Where I to guess, though, I'd say you are merely an equine, if one that enjoys mind games. Especially if you are the tester, and those you trick are of smaller mind than you. I may not be quick witted, but I am certainly not stupid, either."

Her head tilted a bit, and she tossed her mane as a dark grin spread across her maw. "I shall return the favor, Sangre-Corazo, if you can guess it on your own. I will not be nearly so evasive, however." She began to move, walking a slow circle about him with an almost predatorial gleam in her dark eyes. The off-white extending from her whithers to her flanks seemed to glow as she moved, though of course there was no difference. Perhaps it was just the sudden difference when compared to the near-black of her foremost anatomy. When she spoke again, there was a certain rhythm to her words.

Just close your eyes. See the darkness in your heart.
Imagine it as a sea, watch it grow and see it part.
Vengeance lurks beneath, as it had from the start.
Enter further darkness, and no longer is it your own.
Reach the center, a seed of lightness, dying and alone.
And to crush this fruitless bird food? The darkness of a stone.
I am what you see, ouside and in. Darkened light, tainted glory. So let the game begin.

With every line, she watched his reactions, pausing between each sentence to be sure he followed her instructions, even as her circle grew ever closer to his body, picking up speed, and a hint of ferocity. When at last she came to a halt, timing it perfectly to her words, she stood at his side, but a hair's breadth away, and it took but a slight reach for her to place her maw beside his ear and whisper. "Don't think to hard now, brute. Tell me my name."

(If you need a hint... *pokes siggy* ^_^)

-:- Sangre-Corazo -:-

~:~

-:- I see your corners straight away
Presuming they will create the bigger picture
Placing them around the outside
Inspiring me to look deeper into you

For a moment I fell helpless and think
How can so many different pieces fit together?
How can I mold them into a whole?
And if I can’t will it consume me?

You will ache at me till I carry on longing
To see what hides within you
Needing to discover the bigger picture
Obsessed with conquering you

I work faster moving the pieces
From corner to corner
Building you inwards equally
Until at last your mystery is exposed
-Puzzle of you -:-

~:~

-:- Sang grinned in evident pleasure as she taunted him back. He started to grow antsy with the mind game, feeling he couldn’t hold still, but he must. Her words were running through his mind two million miles a minute and answers were forming just as fast. Despite the cacophony within his mind his outward appearance had barely changed at all. His cadaver remained un-apprehensive and tranquil all while she spoke. His fiery blue hue followed her with longing while she paced circles around his left side and his right mahogany hue reflected his inside churning of words and tried to draw her in. Only his eyes followed her, everything else remained motionless. As her lithe frame brushed up against his and she whispered in his rigid ear his whole body unexpectedly shuddered in testosterone. In every way he longed suddenly for her and it shown all across his features… his mask had dropped for the moment and now there was a window into his inner-most thoughts. The way she played with the words was exciting for him and he couldn’t get enough of it. It seemed to entice him within the depths of lustful coldness, and abruptly he felt his muscles tense as he almost overcame her physically with the immoral emotion. Lucky for her before he let his male ego overtake him he stopped and soothed his muscles back into relaxation. His intelligence grabbed the best of him as he realized what he was about to do would have be a terrible mistake. He slipped back into deep concentration as he kept one eye halfway on her. His full concentration had to be on her and only her, nothing else. Even that bizarre and thrilling feeling -:-

~:~

-:- Every word she said was jumbled around his mind and he strained to unsort the mess all the while wondering back to that strange tempting feeling he had experienced. She was still next to him and still very close… he could still… Realizing where his thoughts were going, again, he clenched his fangs in frustration and finally spoke in an attractive licentious tone, ‘A clever mind game in deed, banshee, but a common one, to take the beginning of every dozen utterances and form your calling.’ He fluxed his silver blue coat so it massaged roughly against her with demanding force before he reached to whisper in her ear with aggressive lust, ‘Jiverai... let the game begin… I won’t stop you…’ -:-

~:~

~ Alright… just a bit of a sensual post… XD I got so much into what he would have done in the situation and it all came out perfect to his personality… lol cheesy ~

The faint change of his stance for that one brief moment caught her attention, and she stifled a grin. She hadn't really assumed to get any reaction from him, but it was amusing all the same. Once more, however, as she saw the glint in his eyes that was all male, she was glad he wasn't the kind of dark to give into temptation so easily. She managed to keep most of her amusement out of her voice, though she was sure there was just the slightest hint as she spoke. "I'm aware it is common. It's just a spur of the moment thing. If I'd have known I was going to be messing with someone's mind, I'd have come prepared. You were expecting, perhaps, some long drawn out riddle? Not my thing."

As she said the last, she stepped back to stare into his eyes. A game... such an interesting game. Was she up for it? Probably not, but she'd try her best. After all, what fun was being dark if you tried to keep you life safe and perfect? That was light business. That was what she had been raised to. That was what she refused to do. She allowed the darkness to wrap itself around her, and found it wasn't the cold, purely cruel thing many thought it to be. Her own brand of darkness was warm, almost hot, though still as black as any shadow. Still cruel, but more often a sort of security blanket for herself. She wrapped it about herself, and she was hidden in the nearly solid shell that locked away what she'd been taught, and gave free rein to what was in her soul. Once more her maw opened to free the words trapped within, but what came out was a bare whisper, spoken mostly to herself. "Indeed, let the game begin."

Young ones growing old,
our game becomes their game,
it’s the way that it goes.
Once we were the future,
Soon we'll be the past,
Through our game we'll make changes,
And maybe they'll last. -:-

~:~

-:- the rigidness throughout his structure eased as she moved away from him though it was still very clear that she held his full attention. Both mismatched hues gleamed into hers as she spoke and with no surprise he couldn’t think of anything to say back to her before she vanished into the darkness and he peered around slightly confused… wait, confused? No… him? Confused? Never... He released a deep breath which had been within him for longer than expected and he heard a mere whisper carried to him on the wind. Of course she wouldn’t have just left. How could he have thought otherwise? He shook his crested boa and uttered into the darkness a poem he had much delightedly created himself, after all… who could resist poetry? ‘No more campaigns. I have lost them all. A doused light, I can't stand all the convivial fraud. I can't find the truth. The world reflects crooked, or the crystal ball distorts. The seer turns blind. The brilliant and the real--I still know it's there, but you never attain it by rattling the senses. So, it's dead in my breast, the zeal, the principle-- its only reward was the gleam while it vanished. To you, my younger self: I still face the cruel game, but this heart that beat hopeful couldn't take it any more.’ he paused for a moment at the end of the first half, letting pure silence dominate the setting, before he finished with a deep cunning tone. ‘I go now, wearing the scars of my hope for a better time; I'm a pinched-out candle, no longer good for the banquet-table. The door of the mirror no longer opens to the six senses; here the distinction between defect and perfection is lost. An ardent hand has undone the binding-strings of the veil, but there is nothing behind it that sight can pierce. I have given up cherishing faithfulness in my heart, because there no reward exists, only the vain desire of reward. I don't shrink at the cruelty of love; but, unregretfully, the heart that I took pride in once is no longer there.’ -:-

(XD Sweet. But has he taken hers? lol)

She grinned at his words, stepping back into his sight. Though in reality, her amusement was again more for his reaction to her. "Relax, I haven't left... yet. Though I do grow weary of this place." She tilted her head slightly, and her forelock fell over one eye, leaving only a faint glitter to prove it was there. The other was fixed pointedly on his, and again she was at such an angle that all whitish patches would be invisible. "The darkness eats all but the strongest emotions. One would think to be left as an empty shell, until a certain moment brings forth something once thought to be devoured by the blackness of the soul. Much of the time, these things are common to the evil: hatred, bitterness, jealousy. Yet now and again, it's something unexpected, something seemingly impossible. Hard to understand when felt, but obvious to those who know what to look for."

With a toss of her head, her forelock fell into place again, and shifting her body gave away that paleness that was overtaken by her near-black base. The sparkle remained in her eyes, lit by both her natural fire, and something more. Her mind chained her own words with the words he had spoken, and realization seemed to slap her in the face, though she showed no outward symptoms. She chased the idea away, forcing herself to accept it, and deal with it when the time came. How, she knew not, but then it probably wouldn't be her deciding. As was her habit, she nearly slapped her tail to her side once more, but stopped midmotion, to create a sort of exotic twirling motion. When again she caught what she had done, she studied his reaction, adding another such motion to be sure she caught it.
