Where am I? The tide had gone black. Who am I? You are Fallen Embers. Why am I here? Work that out for yourself. Why does no one answer my cries? Because none can hear, none will answer. None care.
Fallen Embers seemed to wake from a dream; his pelt was dark with dust, a dust that never seemed to come off. The cries that had echoed through his head were fading now, fading into the morning light as if they had just vanished. But they would never go away, those pitiful cries for help that rose from within his very being.
He looked around, his gaze flickering over the dead landscape: a desert or savannah. he shook his head, wondering why he was here. How had he got here? His large amber hues cut through the terrain, telling a story that didn't quite fit with his actions. They were stony and desolate, as if a sudden storm had swept them clean of all emotion. But beneath that, so near yet so far was a deep kindness to all living things, and just slightly deeper a hatred so terrible it threatened to overthrow him.
He glanced about, getting a feel for where he was, some memory stirred within him. He leapt at it, hoping a get a hold of it before it slipped away. He wrestled for what seemed like hours, trying to catch hold of his broken memory. There was a flash of bright light; he blinked, wondering how none could see it.
It was cold that night, the small foal huddled closer to it's mother for warmth, finding none. There were two black shapes of the horizon, his father and brother. They were both cruel and speechless, their hues betraying nothing, and they were leaving. Suddenly a shrill cry went up, and the foal jolted upright in alarm. There was another herd coming! he raced towards his father, to warn him, but instead of a greeting, all he got was a cold glance. He tried to make them understand, and when they would not, he ran. he watched from afar as the strange herd attacked and killed his own herd, his family. But there was one who escaped, who watched whilst they all died. His brother just stood there, laughing coldly. Then his gaze fixed on the foal, and he charged. The foal's eyes widened in disbelief and shock, before turning and running away, not thinking about the massacre he had just witnessed. Fallen Embers ran on, ran, ran, ran....
He raised his head in despair, if life were so easily snuffed out, what was the point in living at all? If others could so readily strike down another, why did anyone even care? He cried out, a cry that was filled with loneliness and anger. That cry shook him, and the memory slipped away, and he was left standing there, wondering where he was.
What happened? he had a feeling he might never know. The only thing that was left was the memory of his brother before he had charged, eyes filled with hatred and a disregard for life that left him cold and empty. he stood there, as the early light of pale morning began to shine between the clouds, and his eyes softened, as he began to walk steadily onwards through the strange land, wondering how he could possibly had got there.

Where the sun had been arising in the early peak of dawn, a golden mist, that appeared to be sprinkled with golden droplets of dew, advanced on the land like a fog descending from the heavens. The clouds were painted a shimmering palet of pinks, purplse, crimsons, and oranges, while the sky now reflected the beams of light from the sun and the radiating essence of glory and golden from the ethereal mist. All at once the mist condensed to flutter over the ground. It fell like a shower of rain and left remnants of golden dropltes of water, sprinkled majestically over the alabastor frame of the goddess. Streaks of golden were shimmering from her tendrals and from the forelock that fell across one of her eyes. The mist twisted and twirled about her pistons and shielded views from her knee to the earth by it's opaque thickness.
Element's dark orbs were fixed superiorly upon the retreating form of the brute as he walked away from her, unaware of her regal entrance. She walked slowly behind him until at once, her majestic voice echoed in the heavenly way, that sounded as though she was not fully there. As though this form was a spirit, molded in the way she was meant to be gazed upon by.
"The question you seek the answer to is nowhere farther than your hearts desire, Fallen Embers."
Her voice echoed slightly in the air and the mist continued to swirl at her feet. She stopped several feet away from him and let her gaze penetrate the distance between them. It would have been foolish to ask how she knew what he thought, of his name, and why he chose him to speak to. But it was her way. A troubled, but pure soul called to her. Her title- Keeper of the Aurora Souls, meant so more than some actually considered it to be.

The voice fell upon him like water on fire, hissing and crackling, yet filled with a deep kindness. He turned to face the silvery form of the goddess, knowing who she was without having to ask her name. Everyone had heard of the silver mare, whom the stars glittered ever bright for, and the sun rose and fell to her calling. For a brief moment he was lost for words, something that seldom happened to someone who was used to thinking things through before saying anything at all. He wondered if she could read his mind. Not that there's anything up there worth looking at! he reminded himself, large hues flickering to her holy form.
Forever speak the riddles of mortals
he replied, wondering what on earth, or indeed, not on earth she could mean. His hearts desire? What was that? To kill his brother? To find his memory? These questions only served to confuse him more, and he shook his head impatiently, this wasn't helping. What was the goddess of the Sacred's doing in Torn lands? He didn't understand at all, but was content not knowing for now, at least until things were explained for him. He was patient, so he decided to wait for her silver tones to once again bless the air. His minds was broken and flinted, but he could still think and move fine. It felt wierd, not knowing who he had been. What had he been like? Who had known? So many questions to which there would be no answer. he looked at her questioningly, his hues dull and empty, he was far away.
And how is it that you know my name?
He put the question to her, wondering if she had plucked it from his mind, ir if she knew anyway because she was a goddess, and of course they knew everything, they could be everywhere. She was here now, but didn't that mean she was somewhere else also? Was she really that powerful? He wondered silently, his mind echoing with questions. That's what life was, neverending questions with no answers coming back to haunt him.
