Never Underestimate the Trusting
« Thread started on: Sep 22nd, 2007, 4:03pm » |

Silence. For a moment, the mare stood with her eyes closed, face tilted upward towards the sun as she listened to the soft silence around her. Her thoughts, usually racing through her mind, were still, nonexistant in this quiet moment of utter tranquility. It would not last as it was, but it wouldn't fade away completely, for her heart wouldn't let it. Nothing could take away the memory of the moment. Her entire narrow frame was still as a statue, even the thick tresses that any other time would have been twitching in the slightest breeze. All was calm, silent, still. It was one of those rare moments when time seems to be nonexistant, and there is nothing but the ground beneath your feet to tell you that you still exist yourself.
Slowly, she opened her eyes and lowered her head to allow her gaze to roll over the beautiful landscape. In that crawling second between the opening of her eyes and the focusing on the sight, everything took on a slightly surreal quality. It was as if the scene had simply formed in that instant, hadn't been there before that moment. She raised one forehoof almost hesitantly as if loathe to break the moment, then placed it gently onto the meadow before her, knowing this was where she might meet someone who may welcome her into their home. The silence was shattered by her own tread, but it was only a soft, steady thumping as she searched out a place to wait for her life to begin.
She came to a halt again at the top of a small slope, a short hill that would serve as the perfect position to seek a home. Once more she raised her head, a contented smile gracing her lips, and she opened her mouth to emit a beautiful melody in the form of a whinny, a call for any nearby stallions to come and see if she was worthy of their herds. The sound seemed to linger in the air for the moment after she lowered her maw once more. A sudden breeze then caught her mane, and she fought the urge to rear that came with the wind. Instead, she simply turned her face into the current of air as it combed through her hair, and waited.
(Hey, that was more than I thought I'd squeeze out of my slowly recovering muse... it's not much though.... *digs through mind to find more muse*)

R h a p s o d y feel the xx__rhythm of the DRUMS
A shadow upon the ground. The sound of hoofbeats against the breeze. Only those signs even indicated a presence besides the lovely femme. The sun rose behind her, coloring her pelt, and making it gleam. Her shadow was elongated in the morning, the sky variegated with bright colors of blue, pink and gold, rising behind her, giving way to a bright blue day. The meadow was struck by the lights, and the forest beyond it, illuminating every leaf, every blade of grass until they glowed yellow and green against the sky of the brightest blue. The sight was exceptionally beautiful, as is everything that a Sacred touches, even indirectly. There was not a cloud in the blue sky as the sun's streaks struck a dark blue roan pelt, hiding in the shadows. It shone brightly, betraying his presence in the beautiful claimence grounds.
Soft rustlings in the forest could have been mistaken for the breeze rustling the foliage, yet if one looked closely, you'd see that the leaves were wet and would not make that sound until fall, when they began to dry and turn into lovely colors of red, orange, yellow and brown. The blue roan czar emerged from the darkness, allowing the sun to shine completely upon his muscular bulk. His well-formed dial was raised proudly, his sonars flickering back and forth at the sight of the beautiful femme. Wise amber optics gazed up at her figure on the gentle crest of the hill before him. His nape was slightly arched, and the dark spots upon his pelt shone as he flicked his dark whip across his flanks. Pausing for a moment, the titan wondered if he should so bold as to canter up to the femme who was obviously too good for him. Then, tossing his crown with reckless abandonment, he three-beated up to her, his long stride taking him no longer than a few seconds to reach her.
The titan towered over her, at nearly four hands taller, but there was a gentleness in his optic as he looked down at her. "'Lo fair maiden." His low baritone lyrics snaked around them, softly surrounding the femme and making their way into her delicate sonars. His own flickered in the slightest way, waiting for her gentle lyrics to come.

The femme looked up at the stag, gentle smile still gracing her lips. "Greetings." Her gaze traveled over his frame a moment. When it returned to his eyes, all that could be seen in them was trust, pure and unfaltering. It was her nature to trust so easily. As a light who'd only ever met those of her own alliance, it seemed odd when one of those had been slow to believe she was what she said. How could they not trust? she'd asked them. But the reply had left her even more confused. How could she trust so willingly when the next equine she met may not have the good intentions she believed everyone to have? Puzzled, she'd asked what any might possibly want that could be harmful. She'd recieved a look of pity and a mumbling of naivete.
The wind ceased a moment, and her tawny mane fell into place along her neck. A long forelock hid her left eye, hiding the patch of white spotted with tan that ringed it. In that instant, her face was one solid color, broken only by rich brown of her eyes. Yet the air began to move once more, and the color was once more broken by that strange patch. "I am Dionyis, Dina for short." Her smile widened, and her eyes glittered with some amusement that only she seemed to understand.

The czar dipped his crown to the beautiful femme whose markings intrigued him so. It was a sign of respect, the same that he would do to the great Element of Desire if she decided to gift him by sharing even the same presence as he. His blue roan pelt shone as the sun climbed the sky, making shadow shorter and shorter with each passing minute. The black spots on his rump shone especially in the sun, dappling his blue roan pelt. His strong pistons stood squarely beneath him, giving him an air of strength and the posture of his nape gave off subtle signs that he was of regal blood.
"A fine name for a lovely mare," he nickered graciously, his amber pools a depth of trust. After all, what was a Sacred without trust? They may as well be a Torn or a Shadowed without that key component. As flies settled upon his rump, he swatted those annoying insects with his long whip that eventually settled beside his black hocks standing sturdily beneath his bulk. "I, formally known as King of the Sacreds, am Rhapsody." His tones held no boasting note, yet a touch of pride entered his carefully neutral lyrics. His blue roan auds flickered for a moment and came to a halt as he pricked them for her response.

She nodded, her entire lithe frame relaxed. "Pleased to meet you, Rhapsody." She shifted a bit, moving her weight from one foot to another in a motion that should have been awkward, but on her was easily graceful. Dionyis tossed her mane then, and the gentle breeze caught it even more, whipping about as though it were a seperate entity. A soft giggle worked it's way from her throat despite her effort to stifle it as she raised her tail and allowed the wind to pull at that as well. The effect was wonderous, giving the illusion that she was at full gallop while standing still, especially as she lowered her head.
Her eyes were sparkling with amusement, but she managed to control her musical laughter after only a slight slip. She truly was a love-life sort of equine, joying in the smallest moments that others would believe to be pointless. It seemed nothing would take that away from her. Yet she wasn't to be misjudged as an air-head. She could hold her own against the smartest peers. Her mind worked quickly and efficiently, though she wasn't one to show off. No, for the most part she allowed others to believe her perpetually childish, in the good sense, of course. Innocent for the course of her lifetime, in whatever ways she could manage.

A small smile slid its way across his dark coloured maw. His auds perked forward, and his whole frame, for a moment, seemed to shift, gravitate even, toward her. The next moment, though, the czar was seen standing squarely on all four pistons, hoofs slightly compressing into the earth. Thoughts ran through his dial as he replayed the femme's giggle throughout his mind. Over and over it resounded inside his skull, giving him a headache, but a welcome one. While this was occuring in his dial, his dark blue optics admired the effect the wind had on the femme's tassels and whip, giving off the illusion that she was a creature born of sky and wind instead of earth and blood. His dark blue optics brightened at the sight, making the darkness of his outward looks brighten and illuminate, giving way to his kind, sensitive nature. Usually, his dark pelt was associated with death and Shadows. However, he was a true Sacred, through and through.
"What brings you to the Claiming Grounds? Surely a femme like yourself already resides in a herd?"
Rhapsody cringed. Did he flatter her too much? After all, he did not want her to think of him as a shameless flirt. Nervousness filled the blue roan czar, and a small thought wormed its way into his skull. Never before had he felt so nervous about another femme. But then, he countered, there has never been another femme like Dionyis A sudden anxiety filled the titan's stomach and his hoofs jittered, unsettled. Questions filled the titan's mind. What is she thinking? Does she notice my nervousness? Is she what she seems to be? But, most importantly:
Does she feel the same way?
ooc---> -cringe- sorry about the cliche-ness (if that's even a word) I guess I've been spending too much time reading romance novels.... O.o

Her own smile blossomed into much more than the small grin that had occupied it. He did seem a bit jittery, but she barely noticed, believing it to be either her mind playing tricks. But she let it slip from her mind, sure that if it had been real, it wasn't supposed to have been noticed. "I'm afraid I do not have a herd, actually. I've only just come to this land." Her voice was soft, sweet, and her gaze held the same kindness that could be detected in her lyrics. "I found myself in need of a home, and so I came here in search of one." She tilted her head down, shielding her eyes with her now still forelock, as well as long lashes.
Through these curtains, she looked up at him, feeling her heart thump wildly, willing it to calm. If what she'd seen was real, it would make this so much easier, less confusing. Her gaze rolled up to his eyes, and she hoped fervently he would ask her into his land, his herd, perhaps even his heart. Yet even as she let her mind race with that hope, she thought further. Surely one such as he must already have someone. He may bring her into his herd, even his heart, but if already he held someone dear, it would always be love from a distance. Still, at this moment she felt she'd have given everything to feel what her heart was alluding to for the rest of her life...
(Eh, don't worry about it. Gives me something to work with, and cheers me up. *has a rl stalker that can't take a hint* XD But yesterday, I was poed, and I had a dark post to reply to, and today, I'm actually pretty happy, considering it's homecoming, and I got a light post to do. The internet knows my moods. XD XD XD)
((*YOU MAY IGNORE THIS NEXT PART IF YOU LIKE* Homecoming today. GO TIGERS! I've got a tiger tail attached to my pants, my hair in pigtails with two more 'tiger tails' tied into them, I drew a GT on my face (theres a special way we do it though...), and I've got paws with claws on the backs of my hands... extending to my fingers... Oh, and my dads old jersey, and three tiger striped bandanas. Yeah, I went all out. XD))

The czar's heart thumped wildly, as if he had just galloped from his land to the claiming grounds. What was this feeling that filled his stomach with butterflies that fluttered up and about? Rhapsody bowed his dial, hiding his dark blue optics behind a curtain of dark tassels, almost like hiding himself from the world. Thoughts bounced off his skull, giving him a larger headache that made his optics roll inside his head in agony. With optics shut tight, the King shook his dial, willing himself to erase these horrible throbs that pounded against his dial. Over time, they ceased to throb, but still, the mere memory of the throes of torment that had racked his mind made the czar shiver and shake.
"Perhaps you could find a home with me," Rhapsody suggested hopefully, unable to keep his voice from rising in the wish that she could become, perhaps, his mate. His whip swung from side to side, something to keep him busy from thinking of... well.... Rhapsody shook his dial once more, his headache gone. His low baritone voice remained over the land for a moment after he spoke, snaking over each blade, each stalk of grass before disappearing forever. Rhapsody could have sworn that he saw the words from his maw snaking around the two isolated on the gentle hill in a sea of grass before vanishing like mist in the sun.

Her eyes darkened with concern when he closed his eyes in pain, but as he spoke, her heart leaped into her throat, and her orbs began to sparkle in happiness. "I would love that, if you would have me." It was impossible to keep the joy, even excitement, out of her voice. What more could she ask for, really? A few things did tumble through her mind, but she didn't know that they were many of the same things he was thinking. If all went as it seemed to be going, both might end up getting their wishes, though Dionyis, for one, could only hope. Her muscles sang with the tension of that hope, even as she suddenly realized the stallion Rhapsody's own seeming anxiety. Or did she merely imagine it?
Either way, her mind raced still with the possibilities, the hope, the tension, and even a small undercurrent of barely dinstinguishable fear that she was perhaps reading too much into the moment, and about to face a disappointment she'd not expected. But this fear was buried beneath the other emotions, and though she averted her gaze, those stronger feelings shone through in her eyes clearly. She allowed her forelock to remain before her sight to hide them, but it was the best she could do, as she'd never felt the need to learn how to school her expression. Briefly, she wondered if perhaps she should invest some time in such an activity in the future, but quickly pushed the thought away lest she lose track of what went on around her at this moment.

The czar's dark optics softened as he looked at the femme before him. Her shyness made him chuckle silently. He was nearly positive that his intentions had been crystal clear, yet still she doubted it. He took a tentative step toward her again and again until he stood side by side with her. He nudged her nape with his maw, surprised by his own daring. "You are welcome to come with me to my land," he replied warmly. His whip swung slowly around his black hocks, brushing the small blades of grass around the small hill. The wind tugged at it, and it waved in the wind, giving him the illusion that he was in motion, much like the femme just a few moments ago.
Ack, that was a bad post. I have no muse, so forgive me for the short post.

She smiled, and her face lit up. This would indeed be a good life, if it was all as just this moment had been. What could ruin such bliss? Don't answer that. "Well then, I'd be honored to come to your land." And as the wind tugged at her mane, she took off, running and laughing, calling back at him to catch her if he could. She would, of course, slow down at the border. After all, she didn't know where his lands lay. He would have to lead her, and she would follow gladly, knowing this would be the perfect start in this new land.
(Ick... mines kinda short and cheesy, but ah well. I'd lost my muse, but I found it this morning, then lost it again, and now it's kinda slowly leaking back. XD)
